Okay i have a fresh gentoo 1.2 but the only problem is that i get this error
Failed to bring eth0 up
Error: Problem starting needed services
netmount was not started
i have a linksys etherfast 10/100 nic that i thought was supported in the kernel and i didnt have to do modules (dont know if i do or not, or even what a module is) and am using DHCP.
I have checked /etc/con.d/net and made sure that i have the dhcp setting right... at least as sure as i can be... and i have done the rc-update add net.eth0 default... do i need some form of a service running? do i need to recompile the kernel in some way? is it dhcp?
Any help would be grateful! Thanks in advance! |

manually run
dhcpcd eth0
at the shell and see what that does.
can u post your /etc/con.d/net file ?
everything shoudl be hashed out (#) except for
iface_eth0="dhcp" |

Make sure kernel supports your net-card module !
Make sure /etc/conf.d/net is configured ok ( dhcp, netmask, gateway...)
If you use ADSL load ppp* protocols as:
# modprobe ppp* _________________ All for one and one for All

MACPRO machine... |
