Can't Install Gentoo !!! Help

Every time I start the install and try to fdisk it says unable to open /dev/hda. I can make the partitions in many other ways and still not be able to format or mount them in gentoo. I would really like to run gentoo, Please Help!

I get the same exact message.

My disk is connected as the primary master (hda)

I have an Asus A7V266-E motherboard if that makes any difference.

It doesn't complain about not finding IDE devices when booting up. It even assumes 33mhz bus speed as usual.

Sorry/Thanks. I was being a moron. SuSE never used to detect my on board IDE RAID but it looks as though Gentoo did an detected it first so my stuff started at hde. Which caused more issues later since I didn't compile support into my kernel but that was easy enough to fix.
