Hello,

I have a CanonS600 that previously would print perfectly in Gentoo. I have been using CUPS, esp-ghostscript and turboprint (http://www.turboprint.de). Recently, however, I have not been able to print in Gentoo.

The printer still works in Windows XP (on another partition) and in Windows 2000 (running in VMWare, passing /dev/lp0 through to windows - VERY STRANGE!).

/dev/lp0 loads without any problems, and seems to work, since I can print through VMWare. However, doing a
Code:
cat <file> > /dev/lp0

causes the status light to blink once on the printer, with no output. Printing through CUPS/turboprint simply freezes up (ghostscript, etc.) and also produces no output.

How can I troubleshoot what is wrong with /dev/lp0?

Thanks,
-JT

I have also been successfully printing with gentoo for half a year. However - I don't know why, It was around the time of "ghostscript-gimp/ghostscript-gimp-cups und ghostscript itself" problem that it stopped. Now, cat doesn't work - although my printer powers on - and printing from inside cups isn't working well.
However, Ive been able to print the "Printer Test Page" - but only that - with the "RAW CMYK" setting in my cups. Otherwise, it won't do anything. So I thought: OK, let's print that way. However, when I try to print, the spacing between each line is half a page wide :(. On the other hand, my printer - or CUPS - thinks that the page has printed successfully.

bye, Duke42.

P.S.: rain, can you print the test page through CUPS with "RAW CMYK" settings?

Nope, I can't print anything at all through CUPS.
