I have a working 2.5.65mm3 kernel that does not see wheel portion of logitech wheel mouse (usb). I have configured this kernel to load all usb functions as modules except for 1st USB option (forget name, as module its "input"). With my 2.4.20 kernel (Gentoo sources) I had all USB options as modules and wheel works so I figured I will try this. But if I load all USB options as modules in kernel or I enable them all in kernel, on boot I get "Decompressing kernel image.....OK", then my computer just hangs. mm4 sources are also doing this if I enable or modulize everything USB into kernel. Has anyone had similiar problems like this? |

My 2.5.65-mm kernels have all stopped at "Decompressing kernel image.....OK". I don't know why. |

It's not "all as modules" or "all in kernel" from what I read in the Installing a USB Mouse and/or Keyboard in Gentoo Guide - then again, I'm not using this kernel (or the one mentioned in that guide) - does it make a difference |

From what I understand under "input device support" "input devices" has to be built in to kernel NOT as a module. If this is built as a module, in "character devices" there will not be a selection for "virtual terminal" or "support for console on virtual terminal" and I guess they turn off by default. What worked for me was enabling "input devices" into kernel and making sure the 2 virtual terminals are also built into kernel. |
