Hi all
I'm trying to install gentoo on my dual opteron using a stage1 tarbell. when it comes to the chrooting stage, I get the following error:
chroot: cannot run command '/bin/bash': Exec format error
Every single answer i've read to this problem involves "make sure you're grabbing the stage for the right arch".
However, I'm using the amd64 2005 live cd, and the stage i've downloaded is clearly called stage1-amd64-2005.0.tar.bz2.
Any suggestions anyone?
cheers

UPDATE:
tried downloading a fresh amd64 stage, this time a stage 3. Same error
if it makes any difference, when i booted the cd, i used "gentoo-nofb nodetect noload=sata_nv".
