Rocks'n'Diamonds a BoulderDash clone here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15958
I've had problems with mirrormagic segfaulting on sound initialisation, although the pre-compiled binary works. I'll take another look at that later... |

Wrong idea:
Code: | ln -s /usr/bin/wish /usr/bin/wishx |
Short lesson: wish is a WIndowing SHell for tcl, wishx is a WIndowing SHell for tclX. TclX is eXtended Tcl. If the application has written for TclX then the developer wanted to use (and actually used) eXtended functions, which are not in "vanilla" Tcl.
So, you have to install TclX, which is absolutely safe for your Gentoo box
Right command:
Code: | emerge dev-tcltk/tclx |
After that try that game again. I've just tried and it works. |

Thanks, that did the trick. I can remember playing for hours on those little plastic puzzles when I was a kid, often when we were driving a long distance.
Now to unmerge everything and try making an ebuild for it.
Thanks again, Brian |

I have finally completed an ebuild for penguzzle complete with proper gentoo version naming and doc handling. I don't have time to submit it right now. I should be able to tommorow afternoon.
It is a short ebuild, if you want to try it:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16390
It installs to /usr/local/penguzzle-1.0
to run type the command: /usr/local/penguzzle-1.0/bin/penguzzle
or create a menu entry for your desktop. I will attempt to make an icon for it when I get the chance
Enjoy it, Brian
[edit] changed out the ebuild text for the new bug submit Feb25/03[/edit] |

The penguzzle ebuild is now in cvs. vapier has redone my first ebuild effort (I think he only kept the name of the ebiuld and the homepage link). Oh well . At least we will have the ebuild available now . This weeks GWN shows several of the other ebuilds submitted in this thread have been released to the masses . Keep up the good work !
I noticed a freshmeat announcement for planets 0.1.9 if anyone has begun an ebuild or would like to start.

OK, here it is... Planets

If there is anything of *good quality* that anybody particularly wants (as opposed to a long list of very variable quality stuff) I'll be happy to oblige. |

The GWN list of committed ebuilds this week is totally dominated by your work, Gentoomen! Great many thanks all around, this has been a productive month for children's software. Both my beta-testers are extremely happy, too! |

I dont have any kids...but I was on kde-look.org last night and they have some stuff I would want if I was a kid...
I know the original poster was trying to avoid kde because of the memory requirements (I too avoid it for all but the computer on which im composing this message, X runs slow on the older ones, and the 4 days of compiling dont sound particularly fun...). In any case, kde-look has a good bit of theme related stuff appropriate for kids...the splash screen (kde-kids splash if memory serves) was very original and impressive, im sure there are also icons, themes, etc. |
