Hiya guys,
I have problems making my pc power down itself. Everytime i choose to shutdown. The system msgs just ends at "Power down" and does nothing after that. I have complied APM (Use real mode APM Bios call to power off) as part of the kernel but it still doesn't work.
I read in the forum that i need a daemon apmd? Im using KDE and I see a kapmd process running. Do i still need to install a daemon?
Pls help!
Thanks |

Are you sure your BIOS doesn't want ACPI instead? If it does, you just have to compile CONFIG_ACPI_SYSTEM and CONFIG_ACPI_BUTTON into your kernel (and get rid of the APM support). |

Well, what does the BIOS say? Is it APM or ACPI? You can only have one of them, so if you build ACPI in, make sure you have no traces of APM enabled any longer.
There's a thread here that talks essentially about the same problem, have a look through that one. |
