Why do you use (x)emacs?

1. Why do you use (x)emacs?
2. What are your favorite features in it?
3. Any tips and tricks you'd like to share?

No comments/comparasions about/to any other editors to keep this thread from flaming.

1. Reasons include:

dabbrev: a real must-have. Saves tons of typing
indenting: smart and customizable
syntax highlighting
viper: allows you to enjoy the best of vi's minimalistic key bindings and *emacs' kitchen-sinkness
desktop
macros
ediff
grep
dired
efs/ange-ftp
source control system integration (even with things like Clearcase)
w3... no, just kidding
...

2. All of the above, but I rank dabbrev and indenting very high

Obviously, most or all of the above is applicable to Emacs too.

well actually there are alternatives to program in LISP.
ok, so where else can you do C C++ debugging AND LISP??
