I had to use the reset cmos jumper on my mobo, and did an emerge rsync in Gentoo before I reset the date in Gentoo (I know silly me). So now that I've got the correct date, I get errors whenever I try to compile something with Portage I get errors like this
Code: | checking for a BSD-compatible install... /bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... configure: error: newly created file is older than distributed files!
Check your system clock
!!! ERROR: sys-devel/autoconf-2.57-r1 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 50, Exitcode 1
!!! (no error message) |
So is there a way to emerge rsync that will overwrite the whole portage tree? |

You can just rm -r /usr/portage
then do an emerge rsync, cant you? |

Seemed a bit risky so I just moved the portage directory to somewhere else and tried an emerge rsync, but now I get this error
Code: | root@deepthought usr # emerge -up world --deep
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies -
aux_get(): (0) Error in media-libs/freetype-2.1.2 ebuild.
Check for syntax error or corruption in the ebuild. (--debug)
!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy ">=media-libs/freetype-2.0.8" have been masked.
!!! (dependency required by "x11-misc/ttmkfdir-3.0.4" [ebuild])
!!! Problem with ebuild sys-apps/man-pages-1.55
!!! Possibly a DEPEND/*DEPEND problem.
!!! Depgraph creation failed. |
*edit, well at least I can install stuff with Portage now, so I'll see if recreating the world file will work. |

Well I rebuilt my world file based on the info from this thread https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=2480&highlight=worldfile
and then did an emerge rsync but I'm still getting the time errors from upgrading packages. Got my hopes up since Gentoolkit merged, but it was a new package.
*Edit, I feel like a retard, somehow the date was set for 2002 instead of 2003, so I specified the year and it works fine now. |
