i left my laptop on and forgot that it wasn't plugged in...the battery died...now when i start up i get there errors:

* Calculating module dependencies...
* Failed to calculate dependencies

and

* Initalizing random number generator...
* Error initializing random number generator

also...it seems that my / partition is now full...and i'm not sure how...i checked it before this happened it was at about 56% but now it's at 100%!!! any info on how to fix these problems would be greatly appreciated.

How big is the / partition? If it includes /var, you might want to check to see if log files have filled up the drive.
