One interesting side-scrolling action game is 'Abuse' (in portage as 'abuse_sdl'). After installing, you will need to grab a set of datafiles to make it run, such as the shareware version (level 1 or so only), the registered version (I think free by now), or an independently created Free full version.

Update:
The Abuse in Portage includes the registered version of the data files - they must certainly be in the public domain by now. |

The Metal Slug series for Neo Geo was always one of my favorites. |

Allucid,
just emerge SNES/NES/GENESIS emu's and you should be good to go for contra style games, or contra itself.
DuF,
I didn't have too much trouble getting my sidewinder to work, just added it in my Kernel and it was good to go. What are you having trouble with? _________________ the linux gaming guy! |

I have nothing in my /dev about my sidewinder (I have sidewinder and gameport loaded as modules when I run lsmod).
I just add emu10k1-gp module (because I have a sblive), I run modprobe : emu10k1-gp ; killall -HUP devfsd
But nothing appears in my /dev
If you have a documentation about that I will look it ! |
