Hi.
I have a strange problem with emerge.
When I try to emerge an app, it's downloaded, the is MD5 checked and then...
Nothing.
No errors in emerge log, it's as if it's stuck on emerge -f.

# emerge pure-ftpd
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) net-ftp/pure-ftpd-1.0.14 to /
>>> md5 ;-) pure-ftpd-1.0.14.tar.bz2
root@apricot #

It did this a couple of times when Gentoo 1.4_rc3 was first installed, and a reboot fixed it, but now a reboot no longer solves the problem. Sometimes I can emerge another app even if it did the above on my first choice.

I've tried emerge rsync, emerge sync, updating portgage, updating files in /etc/, setting up the new portage group and user permissions, deleting /var/tmp/portage, but no joy.

Anyone got any ideas?

The computer is a pentium 200 64mb with piix mobo.

temp is the only dir created. There is no work dir.
In the temp dir there is...
eclass-debug.log environment successful
