To emerge java, i was told you do emerge sun-jdk, it then tells you to download the .bin from sun's website, well the file which portage wants you to download is named this: j2sdk-1_4_1_01-linux-i586.bin and the file from suns webpage is named this: j2sdk-1_4_1_02-linux-i586.bin. Im not sure what i can do about this or who to tell just wanted to let people know. i am going to just install it by hand |

you should file a bug to get the ebuild updated.
In the meantime, you could just rename the file you downloaded - it's just a minor
revision, so everything should work as planned. |

the right version should be up there. i just installed it the other day. Check the sun website again. Also do an emerge sync, and look in dev-java/sun-jdk. Thats the one i think you wanna install. |

The ebuild is already in portage, but masked. Try this:
Code: | # ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p sun-jdk
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] sys-libs/lib-compat-1.1
[ebuild N ] dev-java/sun-jdk-1.4.1.02 |
