Hello everybody Hopefully this is an easy question.
There seems to be some issues getting my netgear FA410Tx pcmcia NIC up and running. Elsewhere on the web there are links to an "fa_select.c" program that some have found useful in getting this particular NIC to see the network. But when I do this:
# ./fa_select eth0 1
it complains, "ioctl: no such device" And of course, there is no /dev/eth0... because I did something else wrong...?
Look at what cardmgr says when I insert the card:
cardmgr[221]: socket 1: NE2000 Compatible Fast Ethernet
cardmgr[221]: executing: 'modprobe 8390'
cardmgr[221]: executing: 'modprobe pcnet_cs'
pcnet_cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use
cardmgr[221]: get dev info on socket 1 failed: No such device
cardmgr[221]: exiting
strange, eh? Why isn't it loading? For this example, I'll reboot and try again. Note that the NIC is the *only* pc card inserted. So with the card already inserted, here's everything I'm doing after boot:
# insmod pcmcia_core
# insmod i82365

Anyone have any ideas? This is the first laptop i've installed linux on, so I have zero experience with PCMCIA modules and cardmgr... so I have no idea what's going on here.
Any help at all is appreciated.
best,
