Does anyone know what to make of this message after an emerge rsync?
Code: | >>>Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available; an 'emerge sync' will probably fix this.
>>>starting rsync with rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage...
rsync: getaddrinfo:rsync.gentoo.org 873: Temporary failure in name resolution rsync error: errorin socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c (89)

I have checked my eth0 config and I appear to be UP and RUNNING. I have also edited my /etc/resolve.conf file and everything appears to be in order there. Any suggestions? |

First, it's /etc/resolv.conf, not resolve.conf. Second, even if resolv.conf is set up right, your DNS servers could be down or inaccessible; try running a ping on some other named host and see what happens. |

As the instructions indicate, you need to do an "emerge sync" first. Then go back and do env-update again so it builds "/etc/ld.so.cache" then "/source/etc/profile" Then you will be able to do an "emerge rsync" It worked for me anyways.... |
