I just booted up my computer, tried an emerge sync, and got the following error:
!!! /usr/bin/rsync does not exist, so rsync support is disabled.
!!! Type "emerge net-misc/rsync" to enable rsync support.
So then I tried to emerge rsync:
!!! /usr/bin/rsync does not exist, so rsync support is disabled.
!!! Type "emerge net-misc/rsync" to enable rsync support.
This happens no matter what I emerge. I did upgrade portage a day or so ago, but I successfully emerge sync'd since then. Any ideas what might have happened, and how to fix it? |

Hrm.. That's strange. Have you tried booting to the Install CD and using that as a repair disk to get it to rsync? _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

I rebooted (again) and this time no problems. Strange. If it happens again I'll do a more thourough check of the logs to see if I can figure out what happened. I do remember seeing something about a whoami error in xfree86 but sorry, no more details. Thanks for the quick response though. |
