Hi, I don't know if anyone cared yet, but epiphany can also be built against firefox.
Has anyone done this yet? I did not find an appropriate ebuild in the buglist nor in the forum.
In how far does it differ from a normal mozilla-installation?

All I want are firefox AND the headers in the include-directory, that firefox has been built with. The standard approach so far is that only the application will be installed, no development environment.

Grr, I investigated the build process a bit and found that the source might be heavy patched to "coexist" with a normal mozilla, or else mozilla should block firefox and vice versa.
Problem ist, that serveral files are registered in pkg-config, e.g. mozilla-gtkmozembed.pc, which is true for both firefox and mozilla.
So it's easy to install firefox, which would be handled as a "mozilla", but maybe annoy people using mozilla and firefox simultaneously. Firefox has everything mozilla has.

Is there a reason for not making seamonkey block firefox and vice versa? They would be located unter /usr/lib/mozilla. Nothing should be broken by doing this.

Ok, my Plan seems to be under holy stars.
Just read:
http://www.mozilla.org/seamonkey-transition.html

Especially the section, that says, there will be no 1.8 Release.

Again, the easiest way is to integrate firefox as "mozilla" into gentoo.

What do the portage maintainers think about this?

I've managed to get the ebuild for Firefox with the devel-headers to enable applications like epiphany to be compiled against Firefox.

The ebuild is available in the bug-section under http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86070

NSPR/NSS is currently missing but should not be an issue being added to the ebuild.

Ok, that's all for today.
