|
|
I've just emerged portage 2.0.45-r3. When I did emerge clean, it wanted to remove about 10 old packages, as it's supposed to do. However, at the end of each cleaning, there were errors. (Didn't type them over )
Then I did emerge rsync, but that didn't go as well either. Even emerge --version or just emerge crashed!
I've then tried restoring the portage rescue image.
First, I've tried to 'less README.RESCUE', but it gives the error:
Code: | bash: /usr/bin/less: No such file or direcory |
I could view the file via cat I did what was mentioned there.
First, I did emerge rsync. It still gives errors.
Code: | >>> starting rsync with rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage...
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1367, in ?
exitcode=portage.spawn(mycommand,free=1)
File "/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/portage.py", line 857, in spawn
os.execve(mycommand,myargs,settings.environ())
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory |
Then I remembered, rsync was mentioned as one of the packages that was going to be cleaned. So I did emerge net-misc/rsync, but that gave errors as well
Code: | Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) net-misc/rsync-2.5.5-r1 to /
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1641, in ?
mydepgraph.merge(mydepgraph.altlist())
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1034, in merge
retval=portage.doebuild(y,"clean",myroot,edebug)
File "/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/portage.py", line 1172, in doebuild
return spawn("/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh "+mydo,ebuild,free=1)
File "/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/portage.py", line 857, in spawn
os.execve(mycommand,myargs,settings.environ())
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or direcory |
Also, starting bash from within bash doesn't work:
Code: | bash: bash: command not found |
(I thought you can't delete running programs?)
By the way, I've just checked console #1 (Alt-F1), and it literally spits out postdrop errors: (it never did that before)
Code: | postdrop: warning: mail_queue_enter: create file maildrop/676370.27968: No such file or directory |
(Number appears to be random) |
