|
|
Just trying to # emerge xfree on a new install :
savage-1.1.27t.zip
404 Not Found on 5 different mirrors!
What gives?!
I had a look at the ebuild and it was changed on 17th Feb according to the head. The install is for a friend so I'm going to try getting around the problem using the .ebuild from my portage tree. |

I'm having the same problem, but I don't have any alternate approach. (I'm completely new to Gentoo and portage.) Can anyone help? Should this question be raised in the installation forum? |

so i'm not alone I was starting to think there was something wrong the setup (I used a 1.4_rc2 Stage 3 for an Athlon).
I submitted a bug report.
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16256
I'm finding a lot of packages in Portage missing (more so on the mirrors - and i'm having problems connecting to ibiblio lately).
Anyways, not knowing a great deal about ebuilds this is something like what i did.
/usr/portage/x11-base/xfree/xfree-4.2.1-r2.ebuild
I replaced this ebuild (dated 17th Feb) with the previous ebuild that I had from before.
Then as far as I remember, I had to run:
# ebuild /usr/portage/x11-base/xfree/xfree-4.2.1-r2.ebuild digest
(to regenerate the checksums of the already downloaded files ?)
unfortunatly, I've lost the ebuild since I got xfree compiled.
Another option might be to find the file elsewhere on the net? |

its been slow as h*ll for me for the last month or so. Best thing to do is add some mirrors from http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/where.xml to your /etc/make.conf
I'm getting over 700kb/s now
