For me mp3s in xmms sound fine, through external speakers. This is after changing the period to 100msec - thanks all.
But I do not have sound in Real Player - I have been trying with the firefox plugin. I have followed installation instructions from another thread in this forum. It appears to work, but no sound.
From other posts I think it is either my OSS emulation or the lack of the mixer, before I look futher has anyone got this going? _________________ David |

the period time seems to be the biggest thing
im guessing using OSS output the period time happens to be just right, using the old commenting out that line trick i got mplayer to sound fine with OSS output
using the s/SNAPPER/AWACS/ way i get it to sound fine with artsd in kde (3.4_rc1) which also outputs using autodetect for audio hardware wiot the (default?) 232ms buffer on "skip prevention", also highest priority (real time) is seleceted
so if you have OSS emu in kernel, try using that for output, yes i have no sound through built in speaker, nor would i want to have one there |
