You might check out http://apolyton.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=5. However I'd also take a look at CTP2. Activision released the source code (to Apolyton only :( ) and they are working on squashing all the bugs. They have both a Windows and Linux version of the source released. You might get some answers there.

There is a patch from lokygames. I was able to download the patch from the link on their site. Most of this patch links there are broken. However, one of them worked, and I got the patch for 1.2a.

Now, the funny part. The patch doesn't work. Something has changed in the sintax of the tail command. So, I simply cut off all the text till the binary content and renamed the result to civ-1.2a.patch.tgz. Unpack that file into some empty temporary directory, run update.sh, and give it the game installation path.

This is it :)

I have got a reply from Tuxgames. I have got the game installed and running with no sound at the momment.

To get around the tail & head problem when you are trying to run the patch (which you must do to get the game running) type this command as root

Quote:
export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209

Then run the patch.

Now if someone can help me with the sound. :?: :?: :?:

I get the shorter error message when the game crashes

Code:
BUG! (Segmentation Fault)  Going down hard...
Killed

However:
Code:
bash-2.05b# export _POSIX2_VERSION=199209
bash-2.05b# sh civctp-1.2a-alpha.run
Verifying archive integrity...OK
Uncompressing Civilization: Call To Power 1.2a Update...................................
./update.sh: line 56: loki_patch: command not found
The program returned an error code (1)

It looks like you're running the alpha, as in, not x86 patch.
