|
|
I am currently emerging a basic 32 bit chroot. I need the 32 bit chroot because I could not get ICA and Java working with firefox, netscape or mozilla in 64 bit but I do not understand how to run both 32 bit inside of 64 bit.
The docs say:
mount -o bind /tmp /mnt/gentoo32/tmp
xhost local:localhost
linux32 chroot /mnt/32-bit /bin/bash --login
Here are my questions, most importantly the ** ones:
1. Do I run the foregoing commands from within 64 bit X before chrooting (I assume this is right)?
2. Must I be root when I run these commands?
** 3. Once inside the chroot, when I fire up X, will I be able to switch between the 32 bit session and the 64 bit session?
** 4. Do I run the fglxconfigure program (I have a radeon) INSIDE the chroot to create the xorg.conf file? Or can I just copy over my working file from my 64 bit install? Or do I need to setup a special pipe of some kind to run within another X session???? |

Bind all (tmp, proc, dev) directories, not just one. You will need to be root. Do this before executing chroot.
xhost may be run as a normal user within an xterm.
Having run xhost, do the chroot (your command line above is fine) in an xterm as root.
Maybe drop privileges: su - your_login
Indicate your X server by: export DISPLAY=:0.0
Run a gui program: firefox & |
