how can i install gentoo from my hard drive ?
is it mandatory to have it a cd ? |

You could install from another booted linux distro, if that's what you mean. The procedure is rougly the same, though your existing distro would do the work of making sure your hardware is detected, and your network is up. You would start roughly from step 6 in the install instructions. Once you had the partitions created and mounted, you'll need to get a copy of the tarball (either downloaded directly from a mirror or pulled out of the .iso if you already have that), untar that into the target mounted partition, and then chroot as per the standard install. sorry for not being clear enough
i ment shomething like booting from a floppy disk and giving the path to install kit strriped from the iso and then installing gentoo just like when i'm booting from the cd |

Any floppy that has sufficent capability to start networking given your hardware and can "chroot" will work fine. There's
been lots of discussion of floppy based install methods using either tomsrtbt, slackware disks, or debian disks. Searching for these in the forums should yield some fruitful results. |
