Hello Panther,
I guess you are talking about the grub configuration process, can you be more precise about your IDE HDD/CDROM disposition, and also about your partition numbers ?
Then we could be able to help you better.
Btw I don't hate windows nor redhat I don't think it's needed to have "feelings" towards a software I would hate though paying for windows That's for sure ! |

well
hda1 boot extf3
hda2 swap
hda3 extf3
what do you mean by the cd-rom ide?
another thing is that although hda1 i set it as extf3
grub recognised it as extf2 in the merge process.......
software is fine.I agree with you I do not like though the companies..... ,oh i forgot.............HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP _________________ Via Veritas Vita |

Hmm.. Your configuration is obviously similar to the one in installation document so that "root (hd0,0)" should be right. Documentation mentions TAB completion mechanism, what does it say if you type "root (hd0," and hit TAB. |

Partition num: 0 Filesystem is ext2fs, parttion type 0x83
Partition num: 1 Filesystem unknown, parttion type 0x82
Partition num: 2 Filesystem is ext2fs, parttion type 0x83 _________________ Via Veritas Vita |

So at least it works that far. Could it be a case of grub not liking whitespace in "(hd0,0)". Try running "root (hd0,0)" without but that one space. |
