I am trying to install gentoo on my cyrix 6x86 system and Iget the following error about an hour throught the emerge system phase:
ERROR 403: Forbidden
Couldn't download glide3x-3.10.tar.gz. Aborting.
emerge aborting on /usr/portage/media-libs/glive-v3/glide-v3-3.10-r3.ebu
It seems I can't have acces to the glide driver for my voodoo1 card... Anyway to fix this??? because the install stops there without dowloading the other packages I need...

well, that's no problem to fix easily by yourself, i think. at http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo/distfiles/ you can find all packages you need for installing and it seems that the rights for "glide3x-3.10.tar.gz" aren't set properly. already posted the webmaster of ibiblio.org, but didn't answer yet. i think we have to wait...

Thanks for the info, I have emailed the ibiblio webmaster.
I have foud another website carying this file (http://www.mlug.net/archive/linux/distributions/Gentoo/gentoo-sources/) Is there any way I can get this file on my gentoo box and install it without waiting for the webmaster to change file permission??? Can I use ftp while booted from the gentoo install CD??? |

i don't know anything from the gentoo boot-cd, and if you can use ftp or not. if you have another possibility to download files just get it and put it in /usr/portage/distfiles/.

How can I get this file on my gentoo box??? It's too big to fit on a floppy(2,9Mb)...
Can't I just tell Portage to look fot the file on another server??? |

you already have a running gentoo, no? glide is only needed for a x-server. so you can boot your non-x-linux, install ftp and download it.

I burned th file on a cd using my M$ box, seems to be working!
