i installed gentoo a few days ago and i think it's really great. i've looked for a distribution of this type for a long time. but i ask myself one question: is gentoo following the common standards for linux, e.g. the fhs or the lsb? i think it's very important for a new distribution to fulfil the standards because users coming from other distributions don't have to learn the differences in gentoo but can profit from the special gentoo features (e.g. the speed) immediately.
