I was snooping around the other day and came across this guy who is offering a patch to enable Mobility 9000 support in the radeon driver. Here's the link:

I have no idea how to use it, but I hope someone with more knowledge can take it and run with it, then let me know if it works and how to use it. |

You have to apply this patch in the /usr/src/linux/drivers/video directory:
