Hi all,

I've just acquired a Sun Netra T1125 dual proc machine. Installed Gentoo on it, compiled a SMP kernel, but for some reason, the second CPU doesn't want to 'start'...

Output of dmesg:
Found CPU 0 (node=f006d654,mid=0)
Found CPU 1 (node=f006d9c0,mid=2)
Found 2 CPU prom device tree node(s)
Calibrating delay loop... 878.18 BogoMIPS
Entering UltraSMPenguin Mode...
Error: only one processor found.
Waiting on wait_init_idle (map = 0x0)
All processors have done init_idle

Does anybody has an idea what is wrong? Did I maybe forgot a kernel option or something?

Thanks in advance!

Which kernel do you use?
Have you tried to switch the cpu -> cpu1 in slot2 && cpu2 in slot1?

Is your Netra similar to the U60? I mean is this the one which is the "Netra Ultra60"?

Kernel 2.4.28-sparc-r4.

Just tried that, same result as above.

I think so, when look I in /proc/openprom, I see some references to the Ultra 60.

Hmmm, just installed the vanilla-sources instead of the sparc-sources. Kernel seems to boot fine now. Maybe I forgot some option, will try the sparc-sources again.

Sorry I didnt see this sooner.. Sparc sources is your problem...

This is the source designed for the 32bit sparc platform... not the 64bit Ultra Sparc platform.. ;)

This is why you had the problem.

Hope that helps

I am using the sparc-sources as well on my U80 SMP - without any problems!

sparc-sources is designed for sparc or sparc64 boxes. Other than GRSec, typically sparc-sources will contain any security or bug fixes relative at the time of release. For the most part, it's a fairly unmodified kernel.
