I was emerging an app and it errored out. I figured out that the reason the emerge quit on me is that because it emerged gtk2 instead of gtk, the program I'm emerging won't work with gtk2. I say no problem I goto my make.conf file and put a '-gtk2' in my USE statement, type 'env-update' I unmerge gtk2, do a 'emerge -p theapp' and it still wants to use gtk2. I then try 'USE="-gtk2" emerge theapp' and it still wants to emerge gtk2!?!? I then resorted to manually editing the ebuild file of the program I was emerging and that didn't work either. I thought that when you inserted a minus sign in front of the USE variable that you don't want to use it wouldn't use it, am I wrong? Is there something different about gtk/gtk2 that I'm missing? I ended up manually emerging the latest gtk 1.2.10 ebuild. |

Does 'USE="gtk -gtk2"' do any better? What's the ebuild in question? _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |

I'll have to try that next time, I already manually emerged gtk(NOT gtk2). I was a little mad that I couldn't get it to emerge correctly just by using the USE statement. |
