I've been searching for another Sun machine for some time now. I love the look of them the arcitecture is so nice and stable. So I just got an offer of an Sun Ultra 10.
Here are the "specs"
- Sun Ultra 10, 300 MHz / 256 kB
- 256 MB,
- min 9.1 GB SCSI hdd
- Sun US 4 keyb and mouse.
The price is 518.50 euros. Shold be about the same in USD. I have a few 36.4Gb 68pin SCSI drives at home so if they are adaptable I'll move them to the Ultra.
Opinions on the price? _________________ A bus station is where a bus stops, a train station is where a train stops. On

That's almost $700.00USD. You can get them for a lot less on eBay usually. There's some here. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

Hey you asked. I said the price was high. If you just want agreement then don't ask. I still suggest picking one up for $100USD on eBay and paying the $300USD to get it to Finland. Assuming it's from the U.S., you can check UPS shipping costs here. I got $300USD from plugging in the dimensions and weight of the SPARC and sending it from Washington DC to Helsinki. _________________ The free market gave me gonorrhea. |

The part of what it might cost was not ranting. Sorry, I was just wondering what it might cost.
Well great, I thought the price was to high.
I'll have to keep on checking. Not really sure about getting one from Canada or US, don't have a credit card and paying abroad is not cheap either.
Thanks for the links anyway, maybe I'll find a suitable from e-bay. Who knows _________________ A bus station is where a bus stops, a train station is where a train stops. On

That's not a bad idea at all. Let's just hope the ones I end up dealing with understand my VERY bad german. I haven't read, written or talked german in almost 15 years.
And probably one get's by with English, even in germany. _________________ A bus station is where a bus stops, a train station is where a train stops. On

trust me, english is quite ok when dealing with most germans (at least in it--related stuff)...
and regardign ebay - its all about being lucky...
few months ago i've managed to snatch e250 with 2x400mhz cpus, raptox gfx (permedia), 1gb ram, 2 x 9.1gb disks, cdrom and dds3 tape drive
for a mere 350eur...
this system rocks as as server - i don't know what i could use in intel world to get this kind of back-end performance....
i'm just putting in sata raid inside to boost the storage to >1tb... |

I bought an Ultra 60 in Australia for about $190AU, which included shipping from the north down to the south.
The specs are:
Dual 360MHz processors
1GB RAM
No HDD, FDD, or CDROM
Dual Creator3D cards
The seller didn't know how much RAM was in it, he just said 'at least 256MB'.
Was I just really lucky? I saw other machines go for >$250AU (without shipping).
btw $1.00AU is about $0.75US,
so $190AU is about $142.50US,
and $250AU is about $187.50US _________________ Gentoo Noob |
