Hi all,

I'm a n00b in SPARC machines. I have an UltraSPARC IIi 440MHz but dunno about the video makes and stuff. I tried to compile kernel 2.4.28, but it bombed at reboot:

Warning: Fcode sequence resulted in a net stack depth change of 1
The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.

I already completed every steps in Gentoo handbook for SPARC up to step 10 (which tells me to reboot). I tried to trim down my kernel size to 2.5 MB, but to no avail.

Uh... help? Thanks.

Sorry, I can't offer any specific advice myself on that error. Out of interest what model sun machine is it?

Ultra 10 creator 3D. 256MHz RAM
Uniprocessor

Addition: I use Gentoo LiveCD 2004.3, SILO 1.4.8.

The LiveCD works flawlessly, but I can't boot. I have 2 IDE hard drives at /dev/hda and /dev/hdb

Tried to copy the kernel off from the 2004.3 Live CD (kernel 2.4.27) with the associated modules. I changed the silo.conf slightly, but it is still showing the same error. I suspect that this is due to SILO problem. Can anyone help? I'm using silo 1.4.8.

Here's my silo.conf:

partition = 1
root = /dev/hda1
timeout = 150
image = /boot/kernel-2.4-28-sparc-r1
label = linux

Resolved. Somehow my machine boot from the second drive (/dev/hdb) instead of /dev/hda. Got it fixed and now booted.

Edit: To change the default HDD to boot in SPARC is, press Stop-A to go to the OpenPROM then type: setenv boot-device disk0

(replace disk0 with disk1 if you want to boot to /dev/hdb instead of /dev/hda)

I have not yet completed the install, so I know -=WHY=- I get this same error upon bootup...but I now cannot even get an "ok" prompt to pick up and continue where I left off. :?

The keyboard in unresponsive, so STOP-A doesn't do anything....and neither does kybd insertion/removal. She's stuck at the error with no prompt Captain!!!

{Ultra60}

Trolling the net...

Any Ideas?
