how can i setup this kind of environment.
i have 2 comps,
1 PC:
-Redhat 7.3(soon gentoo)
2 PC
-Swap drive(i have gentoo and win)
so what i need is to get redhat/gentoo to fetch email from my isp
and other pc with gentoo and windows to fetch email with imap from my redhat/gentoo email server.
client pc(gentoo,win) doesn't need any extra configuration to fetch email from server just good email client?
server pc(redhat->gentoo),what kind of configuration i need to use so it
get's all my email from isp and offers imap solution for client to read mail.
using sendmail? any other(easy) solutions?
so i can read all my emails from both os |

This is similar to the setup I've got. I'm using fetchmail to collect mail from my isp's pop account; postfix for local delivery; procmail for filtering; and then courier-imap to serve the mail to my mail client.
There's also getmail as an alternative to fetchmail, and it's possible to just use procmail directly for delivery without needing postfix. There's a description of how to put together that setup here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=1085 (which is actually mainly about mutt, but you might find it useful).
You should also have a look at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/desktop.xml. Particularly the "Mail" and "Apache and Squirrelmail Webmail" sections. The latter has a bit about courier-imap (and squirrelmail is very nice ). |
