The main problem is that it gets difficult to distinguish what a Gentoo specific problem is vs. a generic one. True with any of the support forums.

Well, any thread announcing a new -somerandom patchset where -somerandom isn't a well known respected kernel person would be a good start. *shrug* I've not had a nitro-sources / reiser4 caused bug submitted to me for at least a week now, so it's not high up on the rant list  |

Wow, apparently I'm useless.
Dropped from 700+ to 66
edit: another idea...
Why not make it so that OTW is excluded from the searches? and also why not delete all old OTW posts (maybe anything 1 year old or longer)? That will help with the resources as well, and given that most OTW posts are useless, it won't be much harm.

You're just some characters I know well from OTW. Your tech support is surely brilliant, but most of your statements I got to know take place at OTW which is not a support forum. Sorry I hadn't mentioned vonhelmet and the rest of the real otw authors

Lets face it. Its dominated by religious threads. I'm probably one of the worst culprits myself - far too easy flamebait. If its impingeing on Gentoo however I think it should go. Its got nothing to do with Gentoo whatsoever - just somewhere to hang out until some unanswered posts come in I can understand (I spend a lot of time in OTW therefore). I'm sure it'll be missed but pjp's time could probably be better spent refereeing who's got the best deity. If people are saying they only come here for OTW well then I'll just have to catch you in the afterlife then...

Maybe this will allow the mods to spend a little more time in Gentoo Chat where there seems to be an increasing number of postcount++ type topics and posts. Sort of like the screenshot of the hour, "omg this looks soo kewl", post 20 of yours from today.......
Actually after a quick look at Gentoo Chat there's a lot their that could be moved to OTW since it isn't really gentoo specific. There's a lot of ThisProgramRox topics.
Ok, I admitt, I think GC is just the new post count hole for some.
Great work mods, keep it up.

They did that at linuxnewbie.org/justlinux.com and as far as I can tell there really was no difference between not having a "OTW" and having only a linux-related "OTW". If you only castrate one testicle, from a bull is it still a bull?
