Mysql3.23.54a merged with no error, I am wondering if mysql 4.0.7 can
merge in the same machine just like apache1.3 and apache2.0 do coexist in Gentoo. Ideas? |

You could try modifying the 4.0.7 ebuild and change the SLOT="0" to SLOT="4.0.7" or something like that, and emerge will install it in another slot (and won't unmerge the old version). I'm not sure if this'll work though, that'll have to be backed up by someone who knows his stuff better as me _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates... Before you know it, it's empty... |

It won't work without some considerable additional effort. File names are shared by many critical files. Just defining a SLOT doesn't make it so. FWIW, I've been using 4.0 for several months now with very few problems. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
