Hello all.
Love Gentoo, its one of my favorite distro's so far though I have an annoying problem.
I finally got my SB audigy working (DAMN that made me happy) when I ran into this problem...
I ran
# emerge rsync
# emerge --update workd
# emerge --update system
# emerge --clean system
Ran without error seemed fine and all current programs run without flaw, as far as I can tell.
Now, when I run emerge on any item in /usr/portage I receive this error (the line number may vary)
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1199, in ?
if not mydepgraph.syscreate(syslist):
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 503, in syscreate
if not self.create(self.match(myline,mykey="update (likely old /var/db/pkg entry)")):
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 409, in create
mydb=open(mydbkey,"r")
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/cache/edb/dep/dep-openssh-3.2.3_p1-r1.ebuild'
)r somerthinng like this depending on package.
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 1236, in ?
if not mydepgraph.create(mytype+" "+portage.root+" "+mykey,None,"--onlydeps" not in myopts):
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 409, in create
mydb=open(mydbkey,"r")
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/cache/edb/dep/dep-fluxbox-0.1.9.ebuild'
Emerge simply does not work.
I've searched through the forum and found some similar issues but nothing I can find comes close to a solid fix.
I'm running the latest stable version of gentoo and have updated my /usr/bin/emerge file to reflect the proper server.
Any help would be greatly apprciated. |

Try removing the contents of directory /var/cache/ebd/dep. Fixes some problems for me sometimes. _________________ "Remember there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over.", Frank Zappa |

Check this out....
I attempted to remove the contents of /var/cache/edb/dep
though /var/cache/edb/dep did not exist. I wonder if it was removed somehow during the emerge steps taken in my original posting.
"
Anyway, I took it a step further and ran a "mkdir /var/cache/edb/dep"
Ran "emerge". My systems is currently emerging koffice and I'm going to smile all the way to work.
Thanks for the info.
Peace. |
