python2.2: error while loading shared libraries:

python2.2: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I screwed up big time... i did a emerge prune and now i get this error if i try and run portage or ebuild...
I think my gcc is gone...
so downloaded it and extracted it.. now gcc works but still get the same error for portage
HELP!!!!

Have you seen Emerged gcc-3.2.1-r6 and now libstdc++.so.5 not found?
