Last night I managed to install Gentoo but on boot it will not reconize
my USB mouse, I have tryed recompiling the kernel and still no luck.
I compiled OHCI as a module and full HID support as a module (hid.o)
and when I boot up Gentoo I get:
module failed to load usb-ohci.o !!
module failed to load hid.o !!
Is there anyway I can fix this? I have a Logitech USB mouse and my system specs are:
Athlon XP 1600+
ECS K7S5A |

I am having the same problem. I was installing 1.4_rc1 from a stage1 tarball on a TTX laptop with an SiS USB controller. When I compile usb-ohci into the kernel and reboot. My mouse is not detected and in the dmesg I see:
usb.c: registered new driver hub
usb-uhci.c: $Revision: 1.275 $ time 15:20:56 Jan 16 2003
usb-uhci.c: High bandwidth mode enabled
usb-uhci.c: v1.275:USB Universal Host Controller Interface driver
usb.c: registered new driver hiddev
usb.c: registered new driver hid
hid-core.c: v1.8.1 Andreas Gal, Vojtech Pavlik <vojtech@suse.cz>
hid-core.c: USB HID support drivers
But I didn't compile usb-uhci into the kernel!!!! I may have to go to Redhat as all my co-workers have succeeded in get USB to work. Is this an issue with the ohci code or should I be using the vanilla sources and not the gentoo "enhanced" ones???
Anybody? |

There are two versions of the USB driver. it might be that you are compiling the wrong one. |

im a little confused, when you say
Quote: |
module failed to load usb-ohci.o !!
module failed to load hid.o !! |
are you naming the modules or is that what the error msg is? im still just a n00b myself but i didnt think you were suppose to put the .o at the end of the module name in the /etc/modules.autoload file. when i misnamed a module it failed to load but didnt have the .o in the error msg check that. |
