Mozilla w/ MathML Fonts not working correctly

I'm trying to get MathML look right in Mozilla. The MathML kind of shows up such as at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/start.xml. However, things aren't lined up and may characters are just printed as a box with something like

printed in them. Things don't look like the screenshot they have.
The fonts Math1, Math2, Math3, Math4, & Math5 show up in "xfontsel". I just put the font files (.pfa & .pfb) in the /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/. Then did

$ mkfontscale
$ mkfontdir
inside that directory.
My font path in XF86Config is

FontPath  "unix/:-1"
