Howdie.
Just broke my backup gentoo.
I update the backup getnoo via emerge -k <package.tbz2>
This is a very fast way to install new packages.
I do it a very simple way.
A small shell-script installs all binary-packages which are found in <pakagedir>/All
This time it failed utterly.
It didnt complete but crashed with errors like
libgc.so.6 GLIBC3.1 : needed by sh
The whole system was quite unusable.
In my process-log i found the following:
....... several emerges OK ...
emerge -k /work/packages_prod_16-01-2003/All/glibc-2.2.5-r7.tbz2
emerge -k /work/packages_prod_16-01-2003/All/glibc-2.3.1-r2.tbz2
error in emerge .. ...
error in emerge ...
So this is NOT a way to install a new glibc !!
My question is:
How to emerge binary glibc-package savely ?
You just can't treat it like some ordinary package.
Have i to emerge -k it before or after the other packages ???
Thanks
Sulu
PS: I restored the backup-gentoo via
dd if=/dev/sdb3 of=/dev/sda3 bs=4096
but this is not the way i prefer to do it |
