I've set up a client server environment for a diskless gentoo node (NOT LTSP). DHCPd sends the mknbi-tagged kernel to the client but then I get the kernel panic. The error message asks me to specify a "root=". But since I'm sending this over DHCP for a NFS mounted root I'm not sure how to do this. Any ideas? |

did you compile the remote kernel correctly ? under networking options there should be automatic discovery, and under NFS option, there should be an NFS root (normally hidden !) option selected .. |

That was it, thanks. I caught the autodiscovery but missed the NFS root. So I am now further along. Sure, there's a new problem but that's for another hour's exploration. Thanks again for the help. |
