|
|
Hi there
I am trying to share some files on a mounted vfat drive using samba. I can share any linux drives without a problem, but whe I try to share my data directory on a vfat partition I just get an error when trying to access it "SMB connection failed 3288: tree connect failed: ERRDOS: ERRnosuchshare"
The paths are all correctly set in smb.conf.
Anyone got a hint on this problem? |

sounds like you are mispelling the name of your share when you try to access it. |

That's what I thought at first, but I double checked and the spelling is really correct.
I tried various other drives and directories, but the problem only occured on vfat partitions. |

ok now, I found the solution and I just wanted to share it if anyone has the same problem:
the active smb user must have all permissions (rwx) to the vfat drive.
just add gid and umask options to your fstab - that did it for me. |
