Hej alla!

Kan någon förklara för mig hur det kan komma sig att trots att jag har deletat
xorg.conf så startar kde, det måste alltså finnas någon annan fil som aktiverar kde'n. Visserligen går det mycket seeegt.

xorg.conf ska man inte deleta.. Den innehåller alla inställningar till X och INTE KDE..

vilken fönsterhanterare/DE vill du starta istället då?

du kanske vill åt XSESSION= i /etc/rc.conf ?

Nej, i normala fall skall man inte deleta xorg.conf men...

Har jag fattat rätt ,X är nödvändig för att kde eller någon annan fönsterhanterare skall fungera samt att X är beroende av xorg.conf eller XF86Config?
Om så är fallet kan jag inte förstå hur kde kan starta utan att X får uppgifter från xorg.conf eftersom inte heller någon XF86Config finns.
Har du någon bra förklaring som även jag begriper?

vilken fönsterhanterare/DE vill du starta istället då?

Nej! Den har jag avaktiverat.

Tja, det var min tanke och skälet till det är att kde'n fungerade mycket konstigt allt gick mycket segt. Något har blivit fel vid installationen( tror jag) därför ville jag avistallera allt och göra om allt från början. Jag blev därför förvånad av att trots att xorg.conf var borta så gick det att starta kde om jag gav komandot "kdm" eller startx, det måste därför finnas några andra filer som styr förloppet. Det är de filerna jag försöker finna ut vilka de är för att vara säker på att de inte ligger kvar och spökar efter en ominstallation av Xorg och kde. Jag har letat efter någon howto som beskriver vilka filer som skall installeras och gärna i vilken ordning, om man utgår ifrån en ren gentoo installation med 2-6-8 kärnan utan framgång hitintills. Det vore ju trevligt att få gentoo-n att fungera lika bra som Windows XP (ha! det var ett skämt).

hm, enda grejen jag kan komma på på rak arm är .xinitrc i användarens hemkatalog... men jag tror inte att KDE går efter den
