Why don't I have /dev/lp0?
I'm trying to get printing to work, and I'm following the Gentoo printing guide. It says to cat something to /dev/lp0. I have a /dev/parport0, /dev/parport16, /dev/parport32, and /dev/parport48 if that helps any. I have Parallel support loaded into the kernel, do I need PC style hardware? I don't have that...

you need to enable parallel support and you also need to enable parallel printer support in character devices... as for the pc style hardware the help for it in the kernel says that if in doubt say yes...
