Hello everyone, my name is Andrew Onan and I've been visiting these forums for quite a while now, and have found them to be a good resource for Linux question due to the good amount of knowledgable poeple who occupy them.
I am in need of building a system for myself that is extremely well supported in Linux, the kind that doesn't give you bullshit all the time due to buggy or hacked drivers. (Hello nVidia nForce! ) Well, I have been contemplating this for some while and can't quite figure out what chipset to base the system on, as this is the core of your system that can either make or break a computer. Outside of the chipset / motherboard I have very little problems choosing other components. I would desire to go for an AMD Athlon XP Thoroughbred system, as they're extremely cheap and perform well, none the less heating my room during the cold winter. This is not a necesity for me because I'm putting support above all else.
Thank you for advice / suggestions! |

Can anyone possibly say that a system will be free of bugs. One would have to test a SERIOUS combination of hardware components with a series of versions of Software, not to mention BIOSes etc.
If you post a msg stating your proposed system, **everything**, then maybe someone will have a similar setup , working or not-working.
There is just so many avenues you could go down, you need to dip your own toes in I suggest, then let others advise! _________________ Someone told me that "..they only ever made one mistake...."
...and that's when they said they were wrong!! |
