After upgrading my system this morning, emerge installed the new version of XPDF (2.01).
I can't launch it anymore :

try acroread (emerge acroread)
question: do you use masked or unstable sources? _________________ tea+free software+law=hook

Yes I also use acroread, but it's not free
and I don't use any masked package |

Same problem with XPDF here. Loads of warnings, then a segfault |

Please somebody post a bug report, if it does not exist yet. _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." -- Calvin |

I upgraded xpdf today after reading the GLSA. It works fine without any errors. |

Odd. I'm using xpdf 2.01 with -mcpu=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe as my compile options and it doesn't run. Any chance you're using a less aggressive compile config? |

Well, I compiled both xpdf and lesstif with my aggressive CFLAGS set:
Code: | CFLAGS="-march=athlon-mp -O3 -pipe -fforce-addr -fomit-frame-pointer -funroll-loops -falign-functions=4"
|
And it failed similarly. So I recompiled xpdf with just
and it still failed. So I also recompiled lesstif also, and is still failed. So perhaps it is not related to compiler optimizations.
I am a little perplexed at how openmotif and lesstif can both be installed happily at the same time, but oh well.
As an aside, if you are really so averse to acroread, gv will view PDF files and (imho) does not suck nearly as much as xpdf. _________________ Even if you are one-in-a-million, there are still 6000 people just like you. |

The fix suggested by Adam Langley in the bug report solved the problem for me (remove the line with "--with-freetype2-library=/usr/lib" from the ebuild and emerge again) |
