what do i patch 2.6.9-rc4-love1-pre1.bz2 against?

here's what i did (producing many "failed chunks") using patch -p1:

2.6.8.1 -> patch-2.6.9-rc4.bz2 -> 2.6.9-rc4-love1-pre1.bz2

I would be happy if you include the USB HID Mouse Polling patch.
You can get it from here:

@Gentii - thanx. i haven't come across the situation before that reiser4 option got disabled due to 4k stack on... (besides it was on by default, i didn't touch it)

and here comes another question:
Performance monitoring counters support -> Processor type and features -> Performance-monitoring counters support

is there a userspace util for this in portage?

Joecool made an update to np that will apply to 2.6.9-rc4-mm1. I revised it a little so that it will apply over 2.6.9-rc4-love1-pre2 =). If you guys would like to test it.

http://gentoopatch.tripod.com/Gentoo/2.6.9-rc4-love1-pre2-np.bz2

Thanks joecool.

Yep ht is broken, you have to disable it in the kernel (smt). It works fine with SMP only.
Did anyone notice a difference using the same kernel with the smt scheduler and without ? I don't think there is a (big) difference. I'm not even sure that the smt sched helps.

The first few messages sound a bit odd - it sounds nothing like what the line is meant to.
You might want to have a look at that line - I had one that failed compile on me a while back because the line had corrupted.

I thought that to, but now I realise that make mrproper doesn't fix that.. doh, thanks for bringing that up :)
