I have a 6-in-1 USB flash card reader and finally figured out how to use the thing. I have a few questions though that maybe someone could help me with.
1) Whenever I unplug it and then plug it back in (to the USB port) a new directory is made in /proc/scsi as shown below:
/proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/ (then I unplug it and plug it back in)
/proc/scsi/usb-storage-1/ ...etc.
This makes it difficult to mount it without checking the /proc/scsi directory, as the device changes from "sda-d" to "sde-h" (and on down the line) with each removal of the device.
2) Is there some way to have it auto-mount the media when I insert it to the card reader?
3) Is there a way to mount the media with the "sync" option enabled (http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=75), so it is not necessary to unmount the media when removed? (I own a Sharp Zaurus PDA, and it allows this functionality to avoid damaging the media)
Thanks for any help in advance![/url] |

You should look at hotplug. It should allow you to automatically mount the media on insertion. |
