Now all you need is a ThatThing customer mailing list.

:?: I'm joking of course.

It is August 5th, the due date for attendance tracking on the workstation, and -- behold -- LISSARD's attendance tracking is functional. (Go to CVS if you don't believe me. Really! I dare you.) Well, it's functional, but student scheduling information hasn't been finalized, so it's kinda tough to tell what student is in what class, so you can say if they're there or not, if you know what I mean. But I punched in fake scheduling data and it works just fine. :D

I went from knowing nothing last Wednesday morning to copying production data from That Thing to MySQL verbatim and running flawlessly. LISSARD hit that deadline like a goose hits a 747. Except without the guts splattering all over the inside of a turbofan. Or the feathers. Or the plane, for that matter.

Maybe I should get some sleep. (Check out the timestamps in lissard-devel... shhesh.) Ah, well, life is good.

Earlier this morning, I wrote:

Subject: [lissard-announce] LISSARD 0.1 (Salamander) Released

From the relase announcement:
--

LISSARD stands for "LISSARD Integrates School Systems' Administrative
Reporting Data" and aims to be a complete school administrative package.
It is written in PHP and is highly modular in both design and
implementation. As such, it includes several pluggable subsystems,
including but not limited to authentication, database access, and output
processing. At this point in its life, LISSARD is most useful as a
web-based application framework, and at that it excels.

LISSARD is far from complete. This is the 0.1 release of the framework
only; most of it is very new. This release aims to allow others to begin
learning the system so that they can create or extend modules on their
own. Proper documentation of the module interface will shortly arrive on
the LISSARD website, and help can always be found on the lissard-devel
mailing list. The [very incomplete] admin module is included as a
starting point.

--

The re-architecting work is completed, and LISSARD 0.1 is the result.
This is to be viewed as a developers-only release and contains nothing
but the framework, which provides very little in terms of end-user
functionality. In short, LISSARD is not yet ready for general
consumption. However, those interested in programming with LISSARD
should find the new system very powerful, flexible, and usable for
virtually any web-based application.

It's been a lot of long nights, but LISSARD is rapidly progressing.
Merry Christmas, happy new year, and good night.

Huzzah! Now I get to port all of the old modules (attendance, grading, scheduling, etc.) to the new system and get a working library by Monday.
