|
|
Hi,
I am having a weird opengl problem with all opengl apps (from glxgears, to screensavers to winex). When I run glxgears, the gears appear four times on the top of the screen and sort of shrinked. OpenGL used to work, and I can't figure exactly what broke it. I emerged a new xfree-4.2.1-r2 (used to use xfree-4.2.1) but I returned to xfree-4.2.1 to see if that was the problem. Also I keep my system up to date each day (that means glibc-2.3.1 for instance).
Anyone know what can I look for?
Thanks |

Are you using an nvidia card? After playing with things (new kernel, etc), it's a good idea to re-emerge nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel. Give it a try |

I'm pretty sure Mesa is part of the XFree86 ebuild, which he mentions he already rebuilt.
To the original poster: Does this problem occur regardless of resolution, color depth, etc? Have you tried searching through the XFree86 log in /var/log for any unusual error messages related to OpenGL/DRI stuff? If you see anything strange there try tweaking the AGP and other settings in your XF86Config file. You can search the forums or Google for more info on how to do that. |

So I compiled a new kernel this morning (lolo-r1_pre5, used to use lolo-r1_pre4), and everything works now. It seems r1-pre4 has a weird issue with the i810 driver. Anyway, it is in the past since pre5 is stable now.
I should have learned from microsoft, when something doesn't work, upgrade drivers
Thanks to all |
