cd recording problems with my ide burner.

current modules loaded:

Code:

bash-2.05a# lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by    Not tainted
ide-scsi                8048   1
sg                     27500   1
scsi_mod               85652   2  [ide-scsi sg]
loop                    9368   0  (unused)
tulip                  40672   1
sb                      7476   1
sb_lib                 36206   0  [sb]
uart401                 6756   0  [sb_lib]
sound                  58380   1  [sb_lib uart401]
bash-2.05a#

and the output from cdrecord -scanbus

Code:

bash-2.05a# cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord 1.11a33 (i586-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.24
Using libscg version 'schily-0.6'
scsibus0:
cdrecord: Warning: controller returns wrong size for CD capabilities page.
        0,0,0     0) 'E-IDE   ' 'CD-ROM 50X      ' '41  ' Removable CD-ROM

it just hangs here, but the lights for my CD reader and CD writer do blink, so it knows they are there. (or does it ???)

now, when i run a dmesg, it goes AWOL...

Code:

SCSI host 0 abort (pid 60) timed out - resetting
SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0.
scsi : aborting command due to timeout : pid 60, scsi0, channel 0, id 1, lun 0 Request Sense 00 00 00 40 00
SCSI host 0 abort (pid 60) timed out - resetting
SCSI bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0.
hdc: lost interrupt

thats the last output of dmesg, and it repeats that a bunch. also, when i boot the machine and it detects the cdroms, it seems to output the "hdc: lost interrupt" about 5 times. hdc is my cd recorder, hdb is my cd recorder, and hda is my harddrive.

and when i do modprobe the ide-scsi module, it takes about 10 - 20 seconds for it to go from:

bash-2.05# modprobe ide-scsi
to
bash-2.05#

i dont know if thats normal or not. maybe i am just to paranoid.

any ideas?

I have not specifically seen this problem. You may want to try looking at the mini-howto on this page - [url] https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=16484&highlight= [/url]

just to see if you notice anything.

Good Luck!!
